Do I need to complete a patch test?
If you are using our products for the first time, we would recommend completing a patch test on a small area first. A patch test will give you an indication of how your skin will react to a new product before fully using it. If you’re unsure how to complete a patch test, visit our guide to patch testing here.
If you have a reaction to any of our products, please contact us and tell us about your experience. If the symptoms persist, we would always recommend contacting your doctor.
I have a nut allergy. Are nuts used your products?
The NHS highlight 14 ingredients in food and drink that can cause an allergy. This list includes tree nuts and they provide the following examples: almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts. We don’t use any of those tree nuts in our soap, we do use a number of oils that are extracted from tree nuts, such as Coconut oil, Avocado oil and Shea butter. If you suffer from a tree nut allergy, we would recommend consulting with your doctor and completing a patch test before using our products.

Do you use chemicals in your soap?
We hand-make our soap and shampoo bars using the traditional cold-process method. This process uses Sodium Hydroxide to covert the natural oils into soap and is called ‘saponification’. The Sodium Hydroxide is used to convert the oils and water into soap and is not present in the final product; only the natural ingredients remain in the products. All ingredients are shown in the description for each product so you know exactly what’s going on your skin and hair.
Do you use palm oil?
Greenpeace explains that ‘Palm oil is amazingly versatile…[and is used in thousands of products from] biscuits and chocolate, as well as shampoo and toothpaste.’ As a result a huge industry has grown to service this demand, with Indonesia becoming the largest producer in the world. The devastating cost of this industry of deforestation, its effect on climate change and pushing species such as Orangutans to the brink of extinction are widely documented.
We realise that a boycott of palm oil is not the single answer to these issues. We do not however use palm oil in our products. We also understand that these issues are not unique to the palm industry, but are a undeniable consequence of agriculture on a large scale. We use oils and butters from natural sources from around the world. We take our duty as a manufacturer very seriously in ensuring our ingredients are from responsible suppliers and from sustainable sources. You can read more about the our ingredients here.
How should I store my soap?
Natural soap can last up to 50% longer and won’t go soft or squashy if you allow it to dry between uses. Keep it in a soap dish that allows water to drain away for best results. If kept at room temperature, our soap will last for up to 12 months once it’s unwrapped.
